Rules and Procedures for Safety


Safety is our number one concern! Please follow ALL range rules and procedures to ensure safety of you and those around you during your visit.

Personal Safety is Our Utmost Concern

Our range rules and procedures are designed to ensure the safety of all customers and staff. We want to encourage responsible gun handling. Please review these rules carefully.

General Rules

  • All firearms must be cased and unloaded when entering the store and range. (This excludes law enforcement)  
  • No tracer, armor piercing, steel core, or buckshot is allowed.
  • All ammunition will be inspected.
  • All center fire rifles must be shot at maximum distance.
  • All center fire ammunition must be jacketed, except for 22 caliber rimfire.
  • No shotguns are allowed in the ranges
  • No one under the age of 18 is allowed on the ranges without a parent or guardian.
  • Children must be at least 8 years old to shoot firearms.
  • Children under the age of 16 must be assisted at all times by a parent or Range Safety Officer.
  • All persons using the shooting ranges must sign a waiver.
  • A valid government picture ID is required to rent firearms and to use the shooting ranges.
  • Use of alcohol and/or drugs is prohibited before or during shooting.
  • Pregnant women are not allowed in the shooting ranges.
  • Smoking, eating, and drinking are prohibited on the range.

Range Rules

  • Always keep firearms pointed in a safe direction and treat them as if they were loaded.
  • Always keep your finger off the trigger until you’re ready to shoot.
  • Always keep your firearm unloaded until ready to shoot.
  • Be sure your firearm is in good working order and you know and understand the operating mechanism and safety features of your firearm.
  • Always use correct ammunition in your firearm.
  • Dry firing is allowed on the firing line only.
  • Keep firearms pointed down range at all times while on the range.
  • Shooters may not draw from holsters.
  • Do not pass loaded firearms from one booth to another.
  • If you have brought more than one firearm, use only one at a time and, when finished, case the unloaded firearm and its ammunition before uncasing the next one.
  • If a misfire, hang fire, squib round or any malfunction occurs, and cannot be immediately cleared by the shooter, keep the firearm pointed down range, remain in your firing lane and signal the Range Safety Officer for assistance by raising your non-shooting hand.
  • Immediately report any negligent discharges or damage to equipment.
  • If a “cease fire” is called, unload your firearm with the cylinder open or slides locked back, and step away from shooting position. Shooters may not re-approach the firing line or pick up their firearm until an “All Clear” signal is given.
  • Never move ahead of the firing line or shooting booths.
  • Eye and ear protection is mandatory before entering the range.
  • Use only authorized firearms on the range.
  • Any rifle, no matter what caliber, is required to have the target at maximum distance on the range.
  • Do not crossfire at targets on other lanes.
  • Use only approved targets.
  • Smoking, eating, drinking, tobacco, and gum are prohibited on the range.
  • Shooters may collect their own brass behind the firing line once they have unloaded and cased their firearm and are ready to leave the range.
  • Anyone displaying unsafe actions or horseplay will be warned to correct their behavior, and/or be asked to leave.
  • The Armory reserves the right to refuse use of the range or service to any person for any reason.

Shooters are liable for any damage done to Armory Property.
